Q: What is a typical course schedule?

Each course is typically held on Friday - Sunday

Day 1 (12pm – 9pm) 1 hr break for lunch + Small breaks throughout the day

Day 2 (9am – 6pm) 1 hr break for lunch + Small breaks throughout the day

Day 3 (8am – 5pm) 1 hr break for lunch + Small breaks throughout the day

Q: What is the class format?

Each Somatherapy Course is presented in a 3 day workshop and consists of an introductory lecture, anatomy review and demonstration, followed by supervised hands-on practice in small groups.

Q: What is included in my registration fee for the SomaTherapy Courses?

-       Printed Manuals (Techniques, Anatomy, additional Presentations)

-       Course supplies & equipment

-       Daily Lunch & Snacks (Selected by SEG’s founder who is a Holistic Nutritionist and places much priority in choosing healthy options for course participants. We typically serve a combination of cuisines ranging from gluten-free, dairy-free, organic/seasonal, with quality sourced ingredients)

-       Unlimited coffee, tea, water

Q: Are there any discounts offered?

Yes, discounts are offered for each course, and listed under our Course Schedule Page

 Q: Are there restaurants/eateries near the course?

Yes. SEG provides lunch each day in efforts to make things a little easier for our participants. This often allows for more time to relax and connect versus rushing to find a place to eat and return in time. While SEG aims for healthy minded lunch options, we fully understand that many may have dietary restrictions, preferences of may just want to enjoy some NY eats outside the classroom! Thus, the courses are located in an area within the city that offers a WIDE range of variety and options.

For suggestions, please feel free to ask your host or check out some of our recommended restaurants below.

Q: Can I bring my own food/meals to the course?

You are welcome to bring in outside food. Please keep in mind however, that we do not have much refrigeration space for foods that need to be kept cold. So please plan accordingly.

Q: What should I wear?

We recommend that you dress in comfortable, workout clothing, as you will be practicing hands-on techniques for most of the weekend.

Q: Does the course facility have restrooms or changing rooms?

Yes  

Q: Do I need to bring my own therapy/massage therapist table?

No, SEG provides this for our participants.

Q: What is the Cancellation Policy?

If you need to cancel your registration, please notify SEG via email at Info@SomaEducationalGroup.com of your cancellation BEFORE the Cancellation Refund deadline for the given course and we will gladly provide you a full refund.

***There are NO refunds for cancelations made after the listed cancellation deadlines. These deadlines are posted on our website under each course.

Q: How many students in each classroom?

We strive to maintain a high quality of our courses, and therefore keep our registration to 30 participants per course, with occasional courses offered at 40 students per course.

Q: Am I allowed to take individual courses or must I attend the entire program?

You are welcome to register for individual courses or attend the entire program with us. There is simply a pre-requisite for entering the program. One must have completed the Pumping Series to enter any later series within the program.

Q: What do I receive once I’ve successfully completed the SomaTherapy Program?

Graduates are recognized by the SomaTraining and Manual Etiotherapy Institute which is an overseeing governing body Guy is associated with, based in Marseille, France.

After successful completion of the SomaTherapy program Year 1, 2, and 3, students graduate as a SomaTherapist (SMTh) and a Diploma of SomaTherapy is granted.

Q: What type of practitioners could benefit from the SomaTherapy Program?

Practitioners involved in manual medicine specialty including, but not limited to: Osteopaths, Chiropractors, physical Therapists, Massage therapists, Acupuncturists, Physiotherapists, and athletic trainers. One does not have to be one of the above names practitioners to take Somatherapy training classes, but it is the student’s responsibility to know their scope of practice and local laws governing practice and use of these techniques.
